Cushmic Sounds is pleased to offer, in all it's glory, this stunning vintage, early 1965 Fender Stratocaster with an old 2-Tone Sunburst body Refinish, owned and played by John Meyer.

Neck Heel Stamp: 2 FEB65 B
A transitional model, this beautiful Stratocaster has the L plate infront of the serial number and small headstock, but features Pearl Dot inlays instead of the Clay Dots found on earlier models. It also has a Brazilian Rosewood Veneer fretboard and a 3-ply wht/blk/wht ABS plastic Pickguard.
Weighing in at 3.4kg (7.4lbs) with a beautifully resonant 4-piece Alder body, the Maple neck is naturally aged from years of playing and has a rather thin "C" shape profile but super comfortable in the hand, thin Brazilian Rosewood Veneer fretboard with 7.25" radius, Pearl Dot inlays, 21 replacement "new old stock 60's frets" that have almost no play wear and feel great to play, I'm assuming they are Narrow-Tall.
A replacement Bone nut has been added (Original Bone nut in case pocket)

Yes, this beauty has been re-fretted. As you can see from my photos, the side-Dot inlays are rather close to the face of the fretboard and judging by the near-perfect condition of the frets, I'm assuming the re-fret was done in recent years.
Electronics: Original grey bottom single coil pickups, original CTS Volume pot stamped 1376505, both Tone pots have been replaced with CTS 250k stamped 1379121, replacement Cap, original 5-way switch, replacement input jack and All original wiring.

Hardware: Original Kluson Deluxe Tuners, original String Tree, original 6-point Synchronized Trem with original stamped Fender & PAT.PEND. bent steel saddles, original Trem Arm with original Tip, 3 replacement Trem springs, replacement Trem Spring Claw, and original Input Jack Plate.
Plastics: All plastics are original.
NOTE: Original ABS Pickguard has slightly shrunk (see the position of the screws), it has also been slightly modified at the base of the neck heel to allow easier access to the Truss Rod. Some Pickguard screws have been replaced.
Now as stated, this beauty has been refinished and judging by the checking, play wear and overall condition, I would say it looks to have been done in the early 1980s and what a fantastic job!
The refinish is confirmed from John's Excell spreadsheet in which he had listed most details. However I still had to confirm and document the guitar by taking the neck off and also looking underneath the pickguard. Upon doing this, I noticed the leftover paint residue in the body neck pocket (not sure why there is green and red paint in there), and all pickup cavities and control cavities have been hand painted with a generous amount of black.
Rest assured, this is 100% a Genuine Vintage Original USA 1965 Fender Stratocaster Body, made from 4 pieces of Alder (quite common for these early models) and by also comparing numerous 50s and 60s models online, each one has the same common rout marks in the pickup and control cavities.
Comes with its Original Fender Hardshell Case with original Gold Lining, original Handle and Latches are all functional. Also icluded is a Cushmic Sounds Certificate Of Authenticity (COA), a photo of the collection taken here at Cushmic Sounds, and 2 extra phots of John in his studio.
Serviced and setup here at Cushmic Sounds with D'Addario 10-46 strings, frets cleaned and polished, fretboard cleaned and lightly oiled, intonation and action set, truss rod tested and works as it should, electronics cleaned, tested and working perfectly, all hardware cleaned and secured.
Overall condition is Very Good! The body-refin shows checking and play wear throughout, the back of the neck and headstock show quite a bit of wear but no structural cracks or damage.
Frets are in near perfect condition so playability is superb!
