Cushmic Sounds is pleased to offer this exceptional Ibanez Jem 10th Anniversary Steve Vai model, made by FujiGen, Japan in 1996.
 
This incredible instrument comes to Cushmic Sounds via a private collection here in Perth. These were introduced to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the introduction of the JEM series. It's a one-owner guitar and was ordered in 1996 after the owner had seen an advert in Guitar Player magazine - they just had to have it! This model is serial #696 and was the first one purchased in Western Australia.
 
Discontinued in 1997, there is speculation as to how many of these were produced at the time. Info online states there were either 750, 777 or 852 made, but I can't be certain.
 
Weighing in at 3.3kg (7.2lbs) featuring an American Basswood body with beautiful abalone purfling and pearloid binding. A very nice flame Maple neck with 24-fret Ebony fretboard is adorned with stunning abalone and pearloid Tree of Life vine inlays, also topped off with tasteful Pearloid binding.
 
Featuring a set of killer sounding chrome-plated DiMarzio Evolution pickups - 2 humbuckers with a single coil in the middle position, 5-way switch, 1 volume and 1 tone control.
 
Hardware includes a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge and Gotoh tuners.
 
Now how could I not mention the statement piece of this model? Well here you go!
These models feature an engraved aluminum pickguard with matching headstock overlay. The serial number and "10th Anniversary Ibanez Jem 1986 - 1996" is engraved into the pickguard.
 
In 'Player Grade' condition with a few bumps, scrapes and scratches. The chrome plating on the pickups has faded from years of playing, there is also some wear on the pickguard between the bridge humbucker and middle pickup as well as the bass side of the bridge humbucker.
Yes, it's been gigged and used, but not abused. This was the owners No.1 guitar for 10 years, and once you play it you'll understand why they loved it so much.
 
Comes with its Original Ibanez Hardshell Case, Certificate Of Authenticity (COA), Owners manual, Ibanez warranty booklet, warranty card, Trem Arm with 2 spare plastic rings, Lock-nut Wrench and case key.
 
Serviced and setup here at Cushmic Sounds with D'Addario 9-42 strings, frets cleaned and polished, fretboard cleaned and lightly oiled, intonation and action set, truss rod tested and works as it should, electronics cleaned, tested and working perfectly, all hardware cleaned and secured.
 
NOTE: Has had a fret-level some years ago, but frets are in excellent condition and action is super low, resulting in superb playability.
